This
is great stuff! When sari silk is being made in Nepal and the
like, the waste is swept to one side and then handspun. There
are a mixture of colours and
by it's nature all skeins and balls are very, very different. There may be big bumps and lumps in the yarn, there may even be some knots but this is the nature of the yarn and where it has come from.
There is a fabulous
bag pattern by Stephanie Shiman over at knitty that
you may wish to try. I did and have had many, many compliments.
The
new shipment has arrived! You'll see I've decided to keep some
as sets. I get a lot of requests for a number of skeins in
similar colours from projects. The other thing you'll notice
is that this shipment is darker than the last. This is due
to the seasonal colour demand for silk. So say they have just
produced their winter range you'd expect the silk waste to
be darker...makes sense really doesn't it.
Update
from 6 Feb: they're back!! I now sell them in 500gm balls as well as the skeins. At the moment I only have the balls left. And turning over pretty quickly
so if you see a sold sign just email me
to ask for some more.
